In one sentence - good game. I don't want worse sequels, just stay on this level of quality...
There is no way that this game stands up to Super Castlevania 4. Richter can't whip brandish or whip in multiple directions. He walks fairly slowly and his back flip doesn't have that much use since a lot of the place has platforms.
Overall: Poor.
Gameplay is true to the franchise. Richter whips, jumps, and throws crosses and daggers like a true Belmont.
The graphics are really good, and the music is awesome, even for a SNES game.
Difficulty? Have you EVER played any of the original Castlevania games? Oh boy. Be prepared to scream at the TV scream (or monitor, if you're using an emulator) almost constantly. This game is FRUSTRATING at times.
All in all, though, I highly recommend this game to anyone who loves the Castlevania series, or just someone looking for a good 2D actioner. It doesn't get much better than this.
