Well, i don't agree by Nephrit on January 6, 2009

I don't get the other reviewer's opinion. Castlevania always been about "jump-run-slash-survive", and Dracula X is just able to serve this - on silver plate :) Every Castlevania fan knows this, so they don't need more. So do I, i've played this game through, the later levels absolutely hard, especially the bosses, so if you wanna play through take a biiiig breath before it, and some painkillers (for the wall-bashing - or if you are the type, buy another computer BEFORE playing :D)

In one sentence - good game. I don't want worse sequels, just stay on this level of quality...

Not that good. by V742 on November 27, 2008

Not very good at all. The graphics don't really last that long. The sounds are mediocre and gameplay is pretty original.

There is no way that this game stands up to Super Castlevania 4. Richter can't whip brandish or whip in multiple directions. He walks fairly slowly and his back flip doesn't have that much use since a lot of the place has platforms.

Overall: Poor.

Not the best, but a good example of what a Castlevania game should be... by genocidekarma on October 7, 2008

I've played this game several times, and I love it. Granted, I'm more a fan of the newer incarnations (i.e. the Metroid-vania games, like Symphony of the Night), but I still go back to the classics. I love Super Castlevania IV, and Dracula X is a nearly flawless port of the CD Engine version.

Gameplay is true to the franchise. Richter whips, jumps, and throws crosses and daggers like a true Belmont.

The graphics are really good, and the music is awesome, even for a SNES game.

Difficulty? Have you EVER played any of the original Castlevania games? Oh boy. Be prepared to scream at the TV scream (or monitor, if you're using an emulator) almost constantly. This game is FRUSTRATING at times.

All in all, though, I highly recommend this game to anyone who loves the Castlevania series, or just someone looking for a good 2D actioner. It doesn't get much better than this.
