The true pioneer of 3D Fighting by Dash Krimson on February 11, 2009 Rating: 10/10 I'll admit it, I first played this game on the Saturn, I almost always picked Pai or Lion, and I sucked. I then spied an arcade version a couple years later whilst on my travails, and I once again found that, while I thought I was looking at a different game, and I still sucked, I wasn't as bad as I used to be, and actually won against human opposition (just a kid, but he was using Akira and could do the SPD and Dragon Spear!).
I guess that's just what Virtua Fighter is like - it gets in your blood, and you never really forget how to play, no matter how long you take to hold the joystick again. And VF2 is the most balanced and fair version of the franchise to date, with each characters' styles, boons and flaws perfectly matched. That's why, even though I beat that kid (barely) with Jacky, I still cheered - when you win or lose at this game, you have no-one to blame but yourself, because in Virtua Fighter, it all comes down to skill! |
