A Great But Overlooked Beat-Em-Up by Lycanthrokeith on October 9, 2008

One of the standard Konami brawlers, Vendetta follows much the same formula as their other arcade brawlers (TMNT, X-Men, Metamorphic Force). Several things set Vendetta, the spiritual sequel to the even more overlooked Crime Fighters, apart from the rest.
The Cobras and Dead End Gang members are highly varied and attack in unique ways, giving each run-though a new feel. Tons of weapons await, with many usable in several different ways. This is the only game I can recall that's allowed me to throw a bucket over someone's head and kick a cactus into someone's face. You just don't forget something like that. And lest I forget, the close-range kicks lead to the occasional crotch shot (complete with "CLANG" sound effect. Nice touch.).
The little touches, like graffiti ("Slime Balls Rule. OK?"), add to the atmosphere. The music, though occasionally drowned out by the FX, generally does a great job of setting the mood.
Still, one thing bothers me. What's the name of the other Rude Brother? Konami never told us! No matter how many times I beat him up, he won't talk. Like I said before, it's the little touches.
Download and brawl to your heart's content.
