I recall being stunned by how far ahead of its time this was: Psychic 5 was a 2d multi-directional platform game in many ways, which also utilised different characters, in order to navigate your way throughout the many maze-like levels. Some obtuse japanese cultural aspects were at play, such as hitting a wandering witch on a broomstick, in order to steal her broom and fly your way to the boss at the end of each level. The end of each level featured an exciting race against time battle against the presiding boss of that level. These quite unconventional elements merged together in an exciting and brilliant way. I don't think it ever really broke out of cult status, at least outside Japan, and it's one of those forgotten gems that many gamers missed out on. Try it out, and give it some time, as you might at first be confused by it. But give it time, and you might find yourself being amazed at this little wonder.
