It's good, but why in Japanese only? by Biendeo on September 20, 2008

Mother is the first of a trilogy of games, revolving around a famous Smash Bros. character, Ness. This game has Ness waking up from his house, and going on an adventure of a lifetime. I can't figure out anything else because all the text is Japanese.
It's an RPG, so that means turn-to-turn fighting. It works well, because the standard attack works well, and the later PSI attacks at a tactival approach.
Along the way, other members will join your party, and they have their own skills to share, like healing and combat.
The game was so successful, there were two games after. The sequel on the SNES was brilliant, but somewhat Mother 3 on the GBA was only in Japan.
Also, while fighting, you'll be in a first-person perspective, because the enemies look straight at you. However, outside of battle, you'll be a guy in an environment and you can walk around.
There are many items that you can get to increase your stats, health, or just advance in the story.
Overall, Mother is a pretty good game. Even though I need a translator to read it, it's got a charm to it.
