It's amazing to see how far this series has grown over the years. Especially when looking at this, the place where the series began.
This game is sling the controller through the TV-pull your hair out HARD! Even simple jumps over itty bitty gaps prove fatal more often than not! As far as I've seen, all the health refills are hidden away, and you'll have to spend hours whacking away at a wall to find one. Meanwhile the little enemies that shouldn't have been able to kill are you are dancing on your battered corpse! Just wait 'til you meet the jumping humpers! Die three times, and it's back to the beginning of the game for poor Simon Belmont! If you manage to make it to Dracula and whip him into submission, tell me how it goes! I'm still stuck fighting Death...
I recommend it, simply because it is a classic and it spawned Symphony of the Night; my favorite platformer. But yeesh! Is it just the funky controls, am I a bad gamer, or is this game just plain out ridiculously difficult?
