One of the best games for the SMS by Paulthelion on October 19, 2008
This was suprisingly the first game I ever owned and to this day I still stand by good old Wonder Boy. You play as Wonder Boy on a quest to save your girlfriend and you must endure many stages of enemies though jungles, caves and clouds that you walk on above water?? to find your sweetheart. First off the graphics look great almost close to the arcade. The gameplay really shines on this side scroller. You have hatchets as your weapons that are great at long range for bustin up those jungle dwellers and yes they are unlimited, but it's not all about killing bad guys. For an added twist you also must keep your vitality stable by eating fruits and such throughout the levels or else you will die. Other items include a guardian angel that will make you mow through enemies just by touching them for a short period of time. You can also ride a skateboard for fun but sometimes this can be more of a curse than a blessing especially in the cloud / water levels, thankfully if you get hit by an enemy with the skateboard instead of losing a life you just lose the skateboard. Speaking of which yes if you get hit by an enemy without a skateboard or guardian angel then your toast. In alot of games one hit kills are unfair but not in this game. Already the hatchet offers good range for poppin the baddies so you don't have to get too close for comfort and with unlimited continues you don't have to worry much. This game has 36 levels and 4 secret levels at the end if you get every doll on each level. Even though Alex Kidd was supposed to be the SMS mascot, I think Wonder Boy puts that monkey boy to shame any day. For SMS owners this is a must have.
