The beauty of the game is in its simplicity. Forward, Backward, Up, Down, Jump. Doesn't get much simpler than that. There is not much you have to think about, which makes it more fun, and your brain won't hurt after a late night sonic marathon. I like the 16 bit version (the one with the lava level as the second stage) better than this version however. Maybe its just because I have fond childhood memories of playing this game on the old sega system, but I also liked how you could collect some of the rings you lost after you get hit by a motorbug or something. Decent, but controls let it down by Megadeth08 on May 29, 2009 Rating: 7/10 This game was released after the Sega Megadrive version, and whilst it may not be the classic that the later Sonic games became, it is still a great game. Graphically it is pretty good, for the time, but one of my favourite aspects of this version of the game is the music. I don't know what it is, as I suppose it is technically inferior to the MD version, but there's something about the audio on this version that I absolutely love. The controls seem a little bit laggy/slow, and it's a shame because that's the only thing I find that lets this game down. Overall a decent game, probably not one of the Master Systems best, but a decent adaption of a classic Megadrive game. Not so fast but very funny by SideScroller on March 1, 2009 Well, i think the most of you know Sonic very good or good enough, so i haven't talk much about that speedy, little Hedgehog. Who's not as fast as on Sega Genesis but i prefer Sonic 1 for the Master System. I don't know exeactly why, but i think that the leveldesing is sometimes a lil` bit more interesting then on the older brother. In also like the very colorful grafik and the beautiful sound. The Game isn't unfair at any time, but at all a little bit to easy. Not as easy as Sonic Chaos is, but it could be harder. OK, im glad that it isn't hard as Sonic 2. So i keep playing it from time to time and enjoy the whole game, even if i know what's coming up. He's the Fastest Thing Alive!!!!!! by justinos18 on August 5, 2008 Sonic The Hedgehog, the Main Icon used to symbolize the Sega Genesis System and started the first Console System War against Nintendo and their Main Icon "Mario!!", which ended in disaster when Sega released the Dreamcast System to compete with the Nintendo 64 (N64) System. Our little blue friend here is fast and I do mean F.A.S.T, just like Super Mario Brothers it is scroll based game-play but based on speed and collecting gold rings to stay alive. Sonic faces his long time enemy Dr. Robotnik (aka Dr. Eggman, which is his original name from Japan) to save all the animals in the land and stop him from using the power of the Chaos Emeralds along the way.
