Each friend uses a different kind of ability. The cheetah runs fast, the monkey jumps high an the hippo break some stones. There's also a crow that you can trow over your enemies. Using the crow you will find some warps to other levels (there's one on first stage, over the top of scenario). By the way, the music is repeating and the (many)stages too.
