There are six different kinds of fighters, each with its own strengths and weaknesses. Each of the fighters was also randomly generated, so your rabbit punching wonder might fizzle after two rounds, or be unstoppable for ten rounds. I've had fighters that started out slow and stayed that way for ten rounds until their opponent was exhausted, then won the day. I've also had fighters who went down and stayed down after the first punch.
You never knew what you were going to get, but you always knew you were going to have fun. My friends and I would each start out with a "stable" of six fighters (one of each kind). The loser of a fight had that fighter eliminated from his/her stable, and the winner of a fight would re-choose the same fighter and take on the next opponent until there was just one person left who had a fighter or fighters that hadn't been eliminated.
The key was to listen to the "sound" of the punches to learn where your and your opponents strengths and weaknesses were and to recognize what was working (I've heard a sound where I knew a serious injury had just taken place... all I had to do was figure out if the injury was to my hand or to the opponent).
The people I played this game with, and myself of course, would all agree this was the best and most entertaining Intellivision game ever.
